International Day of Yoga 21 June 2015

The United Nations adopted a Resolution in December 2014, initiated by India and co-sponsored by the Russian Federation, to annually observe June 21 as International Day of Yoga (IDY).

The aim of organizing IDY event is to highlight the importance of healthy living through Yoga, an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition, which embodies unity of mind and body and provides a holistic approach to health and well-being.

To mark the first IDY on 21 June 2015, events are being organised across Russia with the support of Regional governments, Yoga Federation of Russia, socio-cultural organisations and Yoga centres.

The events would include a Yoga demonstration (asanas) based on the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) [ http://mea.gov.in/in-focus-article.htm?25272/International+Day+of+Yoga++Common+Yoga+Protocol].

Russian version: [Yoga Protocol in Russian language].

An instructional video demonstrating the asanas given in CYP has been specially made for IDY [https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwQXyLTnGaP7dklhOGRmdG84M1k/edit].
