Indian Students and Teachers from ATL schools reach Sochi, Russia, for the Indo-Russia Deep Technology and Innovation Program, 2019

New Delhi: India and Russia have yet again come together to shape up relations between high school students of two countries in Science, Technology and Innovation, creating a platform of best practices in contemporary innovation and entrepreneurship through next phase of NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and SIRIUS, Russia’s Educational Center, collaboration.
This colloboration and student exchange program was conceived by the Hon. Prime Minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi during his visit to SIRIUS, Sochi in May 2018. Later, a MoU was signed between Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and SIRIUS Education Center, in Oct 2018.
This was followed up by a visit of the Sirius student delegation to India, in October 2018, who worked with a group of talented students from the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), and the Atal Tinkering Labs, at the IIT Delhi.
This year SIRIUS is all set to host a seven-day Science Technology and Innovation Program slated to be held from November 29 to December 5, 2019. The program is a step in strengthening Indo-Russia relations with cultural and educational exchanges.
Coordinated by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Embassy of India Moscow, a group of 25 student innovators and 5 teachers from ATL schools across the country, selected from the top 100 teams of AIM’s Atal Tinkering Labs Innovation Marathon 2018, have reached the citiy of Sochi in Russia.
On completion of the program these students will have a short educational and cultural tour at Sochi and Moscow and will interact with the Indian Ambassador to the Russian Federation, H.E. Mr D B Venkatesh Varma.
“AIM-SIRIUS program is a sign of an unparalleled relationship between the two countries and it will only strengthen each year with our efforts towards building educational links among school children of both countries,” Mr. Vijay Chauthaiwale, Atal Innovation Mission Member emphasized.
This year the program at its core, has been designed by AIM-SIRIUS to introduce students to deep technology and innovative enginerring and to inculcate a sense that solutions to world’s toughest problems lies down in knowledge and cooperation.
Sharing his views, CEO NITI Aayog Mr. Amitabh Kant said that AIM-SIRIUS is one of the best models of collaboration, intellectual exchange, and cultural exchange to nurture the bilateral relations in the field of education.
“We look forward to see Indian and Russian students setting an example for rest of the world in terms of educational ties for school going children. We pin hope on our student’s joint innovations and best practices,” he said.
Terming the AIM-SIRIUS program as a great opportunity for students, Vice Chairman NITI Aayog Dr. Rajiv Kumar said through this program, student can grab abundant opportunities of international scientific networking and future collaboration.
“This is the chance for children to broaden their minds, raise curiosities, and hone their intellect by networking with international young scientist and innovators,” he added.
Mission Director AIM, NITI Aayog Shri R Ramanan said AIM-SIRIUS innovation program has given hopes to hundreds of students who aspire high in the field of science and technology.
“AIM continues to grow steadily in its effort to enhance the ecosystem of innovation throughout the country. I am sure that this year again the students would experience a highly rewarding educational and cross cultural exchange that would be impetus to our young innovators working in our tinkering labs across India,” Mr. Ramanan stressed.
Program Details
The program is a combination of cross-cultural experiences, innovation bootcamp, and showcase opportunity for the Russian and Indian students to their leaders. The objective of the Program is to enable students from both countries to ideate and prototype innovation addressing problem statements from diverse sectors ranging from Scientific research, Medicine, 4th Industrial revolution, Architecture, Design, Arts, to Mathematics, Data Analytics and Frontier technologies.
The program has been co-created by both SIRIUS and AIM stimulating cross border collaboration and innovations between the youth of both the countries.
