The 10th meeting of the India-Russia Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism was held in Moscow on July 23, 2018. A composite Indian delegation was led by Mrs. Preeti Saran, Secretary (East), Ministry of External Affairs while the Russian delegation was led by His Excellency Mr. Oleg Syromolotov, Deputy Foreign Minister.
Both sides conducted a thorough review of the threats posed from terrorism in South and West Asia. The threat posed from cross-border terrorism was highlighted, and it was agreed that there can be no double standards in the fight against terrorism.
Both sides condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and agreed that united efforts should be made to dismantle the infrastructure of terrorism, including the financing of terrorism, both bilaterally and at multilateral forums such as the UN, BRICS, FATF and SCO. The issue of radicalization, including through the internet, was also discussed.
The two sides agreed to further strengthen and coordinate their efforts in the fight against terrorism, in accordance with the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership that exists between the two nations. It was agreed to continue meetings at expert level, intensify exchange of information and capacity building efforts in all areas of mutual interest. It was decided that the next meeting will be held in India on mutually convenient dates.
