Ambassador met with the Acting Head of the Republic of Kalmykia Mr. Batu Khasikov and discussed concrete steps to increase economic, cultural and educational cooperation. He also gave the opening remarks at the Meeting of Heads of Executive of the Republic of Kalmykia and Indian Business at the White House in Elista . He underscored the similarities between the two and the immense scope for close cooperation in the cultural and economic sector.
Ambassador opened the Festival "Days of Indian Culture in Kalmykia" in the presence of the Governor of the region, Mr Batu Khasikov. He visited the biggest Buddhist temple - Hurul “Buddha Shakyamuni’s Golden Abode" in Kalmykia and discussed possible ways of developing strong Buddhist linkages between India and Kalmykia with the Deputy Head Mr Anja-gelung.
