2017 is a special year for India and Russia. This year we celebrate the 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries. It was on 13 April 1947 - four months before India's independence - that diplomatic relations were established between us. Over the last seven decades, our relationship has blossomed into a Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.
During the visit of President Putin to India in October 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Vladimir Putin agreed to commemorate this important occasion and adopted a Roadmap for its celebrations. Based on this Roadmap, a series of events has been planned in Russia and in India during 2017. One such initiative is a Photo Competition on Travels made in each other’s countries, open to citizens of both countries. The aim is to bring out through photographs, the scenic beauty of nature, flora, fauna, architecture, cuisine and the rich and diverse culture of both countries.
Who can Enter:
The Photo Competition is open to citizens of India and the Russian Federation.
Photographs must be taken in the other country (Indians will have to submit photographs taken in Russia and vice versa)
Photographs need to be original work of the photographer.
What to Enter:
To ensure eligibility for the contest, files no larger than 20MB will have to be submitted and have a resolution of minimum 300 dpi. Each participant can submit up to 10 such photographs. All photographs should accurately reflect the subject matter and the scene as it appeared. Photos that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimization (removal of dust, cropping, reasonable adjustments to exposure, color and contrast, etc.) will be disqualified.
Entries may originate in any format — including, but not limited to digital files, digital prints, color transparencies, color prints, or black and white prints — so long as they are submitted electronically in a JPEG (.jpg) format. Multiple exposures that have been combined to produce a single "High Dynamic Range" image are unacceptable.The jury is the ultimate arbiter of these standards and may at its discretion, request for an un-toned scan of the negative or slide. Stitching of multiple images for a panoramic image is accepted but has to be specified in description.
What not to Enter:
i. Photos that violate or infringe upon another person's rights, including but not limited to copyright.
ii. Photos that contain sexually explicit, nude, obscene, violent or other objectionable or inappropriate content.
iii. Images that involve the willful harassment of wildlife, or damage to the environment by the photographer.
iv. Images that involve putting any individual or animal in danger.
v. Images taken more than three years prior to the beginning date of the Contest.
How to Enter:
All images must be submitted though the website www.profsunion.com, completing all required fields.
Entrants may be asked to supplement their submission (such as with a paragraph about their photo or the highest resolution version of their photo) anytime during the photo competition and judging.
Judging:
Photos will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact, artistic merit and subject matter. Judging will be conducted by a Jury comprising of both Russian and Indian judges. The Jury will evaluate all valid entries and pick winners in various categories.

Entries will start being accepted from 12 am IST on 10 April 2017. Entries will be accepted till 11:59 pm IST 10 May 2017.
Entries submitted before or after this period will not be eligible.

Copyrightand Dispute Resolution:
The Governments of India and the Russian Federation retain the copyright of the submitted photographs for a year for its publicity efforts. Photo credits will be mentioned wherever the photograph is used. The photos submitted for the competition would remain the property of the Embassy if the photo is used for publicity and other purposes. Participant shall provide high resolution image for the print material after the completion of judging.
In case of any dispute/disagreement during competition, the decision made by the Jury will be final.
Prizes
Each winner from the above mentioned three categories will have a full hospitality and airfare paid trip to India for 5 days (For winner + 1).
