On 4 October 2016, Ambassador Pankaj Saran and Andrey Smirnov, the Director of Institute of Philosophy, signed the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation for Mahatma Gandhi Chair of Philosophy at the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The MoU enables the building of a constructive dialogue between the people of India and Russia, and promotes mutual exchange of experience and knowledge in the field of philosophy and enhances the understanding of young Russian scholars in the field of Indian philosophy.
