Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala, was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Moscow on August 30, 2015, at a function organized by the All Moscow Malayalee Association (AMMA). H.E. Mr. PS Raghavan, Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation, and Mrs. Barbara Raghavan graced the occasion.
The festival began with the traditional lighting of the lamp. The Ambassador addressed the gathering on the auspicious occasion and conveyed his good wishes for Onam. A colorful and enthusiastic cultural programme including the traditional " Thiruvathirakali" was presented by the members of the Indian community. The "Pookalam" - floral decorations that are the hallmark of Onam were the cynosure of all eyes and camera lenses. The Onam sadya- the Onam Feast is an indispensable and most awaited aspect of Onam. The special gastronomic delight was enjoyed by everyone present.
