On July 29, 2015, the Government of India created a fund called National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) that aims to promote investment through infrastructure development in commercially viable projects.
Attached herewith is a brief regarding the Fund. NIIF would solicit equity from strategic anchor partners including overseas sovereign/quasi-sovereign/multilateral/bilateral investors. This is a unique utility for participating in equity/quasi-equity/debt support support to projects directly or to NBFCs/FIs/funds engaged primarily in infrastructure-sector.
