Tatarstan President and Indian Commerce and Industry Minister discuss issues of further cooperation, 18 November 2014


On November 18, at her meeting with Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov in New Delhi, Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that Tatarstan as one of the Russian regions is well known in India.

Minnikhanov thanked the Minister for the opportunity to meet and discuss some of the issues related to further cooperation. He reminded that 50 per cent of Tatarstan products are export-oriented and include, in particular, engineering products (KAMAZ Automaker), helicopters (Kazan Helicopter Plant), shipbuilding and petrochemical products.

In particular, Minnikhanov offered to arrange a visit of the Indian businessmen to Tatarstan to see into economic potential of the region. He also suggested considering the possibility to launch Indian pharmaceutical production facilities in Tatarstan, as India is the largest medical producers.

We have made it our mission to promote Tatarstan products to new markets and increase our supplies, Tatarstan President noted.
