Visit of Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev to India


H. E. Mr Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister and Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President of Russian Federation for the Far Eastern Federal District, visited India from 15-17 March 2017. He met with H. E Mrs Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister of India, on 17 March 2017 and discussed issues related to bilateral trade & investment cooperation, focusing on emerging opportunities for cooperation between India and various regions in the Russian Far East. He also met with Mr Ramesh Abhishek, Deputy Minister, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, representatives from Invest India, and other business organizations in New Delhi to discuss possible joint investment projects.

On 16 March 2017, Mr Trutnev had visited Mumbai and attended the signing ceremony of a set of agreements for proposed investment by Indian company Tata Power in a green field coal mining project in the Kamchatka region. He also met with representatives of prominent diamond companies in Mumbai and presided over a business round-table organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry in Mumbai.

Deputy Prime Minister Trutnev is accompanied by a high-level official cum business delegation comprising Governors of Kamchatka, Sakhalin and Khabarovsk regions, senior government officials, and Russian industry representatives.
