2nd Ayurveda Congress held in Moscow


All Russia Ayurveda Congress was organised in Moscow on April 9-10, 2015. Speaking at the inaugural session at Peoples Friendship University of Russia (PFUR), Ambassador P.S. Raghavan underlined the scientific basis of Ayurveda, a traditional ancient Indian heritage, and its popularity in Russia. He spoke about the efforts taken by Indian government in spreading awareness and promoting Indian traditional system of medicines. He complimented the organisers of the event, Institute of Oriental Medicine, PFUR and Ayurveda Russia India Association (ARIA) for their efforts in bringing stakeholders of health system in deliberating on various aspects of Ayurveda. Ambassador Raghavan informed about the establishment of AYUSH Information Cell in the Embassy and its activities which include a lecture series on Ayurveda.

Senior officials and experts from Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India participated in the Congress. They made presentations on use of Ayurveda medicines and practices in treating of various ailments esp. non-communicable diseases. The experts informed about policies of Indian government for promotion of traditional medicines which include scholarships to foreign students & doctors, establishment of AYUSH chair in foreign university/institute, joint researches, etc.

During the congress, Ayurveda doctors and experts deliberated on multi-dimensional aspects of Ayurveda and its study including measures to be taken for further promotion on Indian traditional system of medicine in Russia.
