Release of Postage Stamp:70th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between India and Russia


In commemoration of the 70thAnniversary of Diplomatic Relations between India and Russia,and in fulfilment of the roadmap agreed between India and Russia on 15 October 2016 in Goa during the 17thAnnual Bilateral Summit, to celebrate the anniversary,a Joint Postage Stamp, with theme “Folk Dance”, was simultaneously issued today at Delhi and Moscow today 26 October 2017.

The Stamps depict “Beryozka” - a Russian national circle dance and “Bhavai”, a popular folk dance of India with the background of St. Basil’s Cathedral, Moscow and Hawa Mahal, Jaipur.  In addition to the Postage Stamp, First Day Cover and Special Cancellation were also released by both the Sides.

Last time, India and Russia released a Joint Stamp was 27 years ago, in the year 1990.

In addition, the anniversary celebrations are marked by cultural, political and social events organized in a large number according to the agreed road map, both in India and in Russia.
