Her Excellency Mrs. Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister of India will represent the Government of India at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Heads of Government Summit in Sochi on 30th November – 1st December, 2017.
In addition to participating in the Summit meetings on 1st December, 2017, she will have bilateral meetings on its sidelines and will also attend the Reception hosted by His Excellency Mr. Dmitri Medvedev, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation in Sochi on 30th November, 2017.
India joined Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a full member in June 2017. This would be the first Heads of Government Summit of the SCO that India would be attending. India attaches special significance to SCO in promoting political, economic and people-to-people interaction in the Region.
In a significant intensification of bilateral relationship between India and Russia, this is the second time that Mrs. Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister would be visiting Russia this year. Earlier, she participated in the third Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok on 6-7 September, 2017.
