Revised validity period and fees of e-visa


Competent authorities in Government of India has informed of some changes in the validity period and fees of e-visa. These are summarized below:
(a) A short duration e-visa for tourist, with one-month validity with visa fee of USD 25 has been introduced.

(b) To encourage off-season (April-June) tourism, visa fee of USD 25 would be reduced to USD 10 during this period.

(c) Validity of the regular e-visa with fee of USD 80 has been increased from current permissible 1 year to 5 years with multiple entry.

(d) Fee for one year e-Tourist visa has been reduced from USD 80 to USD 40.

An important instruction on the above link is the requirement for entry into India upon receipt of Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is that the passport of the traveler should have validity of at least six months from date of arrival in India and should contain at least two blank pages for stamping by the Immigration Officer.

3. Another important instruction on e-visa webportal is with regard to the entry on passport number mentioned in ETA which is reproduced below:

“You must travel on the Passport which you have applied for e-Visa. Entry will be allowed into India on the new passport even if ETA has been issued on the old passport, however in such cases a traveler must carry the old passport on which ETA was issued.”
