Press Release on opening of Indian Tourist Visa

Competent authorities in Government of India has decided to provide relaxation on visa and travel restrictions for Foreign Tourists intending to visit India. Some of the relaxation announced are as under:

a) Foreign nationals intending to visit India for tourism purposes will be allowed to enter India on e-Tourist Visa / Tourist Visa through chartered flights (for group tourism only) from 15 October 2021.

b) All individual foreign nationals intending to travel to India for tourism purposes through Vande Bharat Mission, Air Bubble Scheme or any scheduled / non-scheduled commercial flights as allowed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation would be permitted to enter India from 15 November 2021.

c) The above mentioned foreign nationals would be required to obtain a fresh e-Tourist / Regular Tourist Visa. The existing valid e-Tourist Visa / Regular Tourist Visa issued prior to 06.10.2021 continue to remain suspended.

d) Tourist Visa / e-Tourist Visa of foreign nationals intending to visit India for tourism, will have to be utilized within 120 days from the date of issue of such Visa/ Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). The validity of such visas would be upto 30 days and with single entry. This facility would be applicable only to tourist Visa / e-Tourist Visa issued on or after 06.10.2021.

e) Travel of all such foreign nationals will be subject to protocol and norms relating to COVID-19 as notified by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare of Govt. of India.

f) Such foreign nationals shall be permitted to enter India by sea route or by flight. However, such foreign national will not be permitted to enter through land Immigration Check Points.

g) First five lakh such tourist visas issued globally would be on Gratis basis. However, service charges of the visa application center will be levied.
