India Corner at Higher School of Economics - 19 March, 2019


National Research University, Higher School of Economics (HSE) and Embassy of India, Moscow formally launched the 'India Corner' at the HSE's Staraya Basmannaya Street campus on March 19, 2019. The idea of having an India Corner at the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) was conceptualized in 2016 with a vision to start a separate and dedicated program for Indian Studies at the HSE, focusing mainly on economic issues with special focus on India.

Mr. D. B. Venkatesh Varma, Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation and Mr. Yaroslav Kuzminov, Rector of HSE jointly inaugurated the Corner in the presence of a host of eminent personalities from various Russian Ministries, HSE, think-tanks, economists, academicians, indologists, business-organizations and media-persons.

This was followed by the first event under the aegis of the India Corner - a Round-table discussion on “Why Venture Unicorns grow quickly in India” which was co-moderated by Head of the School of Asian Studies at HSE Prof. Alexey Maslov and Executive Director, Confederation of Indian Industry Mr. Anjan Das, and attended by representatives from select successful Indian companies. Among the main speakers at the Round-Table were Mr. Vsevolod Rozanov, Chief Deputy CEO, Sistema Asia Fund, Mr. Anton Loginov, Deputy Minister of Investment and Innovations of Moscow Oblast, Mr. Gleb Ivanshentsov, Vice President, Russian International Affairs Council, Mr. Oleg Teplov, CEO, VEB Innovations and Mr. Sammy Kotwani, Chairman, Indian Business Alliance.
